  • OTA Rewind: 4/13/22 - Making Virtualization a Vacation with Scale Computing Spiceworks TV.
  • but I'm jealous because I know it has already begun for many of you (and I hope you're having an amazing one). Welcome to Friday, everyone! The weekend is already around the corner.
  • Snap! Chrome updates, Atlassian outage, crypto heist, & the debut of Apple II Spiceworks Originals.
  • That prevents it from hijacking audio until I disconnect and reconnect - at which point I'm back to the dialtone.īasically Skype has made itself and my headset useless - I can only use one of the two at a time. The only workaround I've found so far is to exit Skype, connect audio, and then start Skype.

Also, I'm running Skype inside a VMWare VM, and for some reason, it can see and name my Skype device in the audio device selection, which no other app can (even Windows volume control/config screens only list VMWare virtual audio as the only recording/playback device). The exclusive mode setting doesn't fix anything, and I'm not an administrator so I'm not authorized to disable any devices. In fact, Skype also seems to be mishandling the answer signal, because if I hit the answer button while Skype's dialtone is on, it disconnects audio (as expected) and then reconnects audio (and restarts the dialtone) less than a second later! Just chiming in to say that I face the same issue (Plantronics Savi 7xx) - Skype for business 2016 hijacks my audio with a dialtone, which then changes to a strange beeping sound, and then instructs my headset to hang up! Another hint, when I hit the answer button on my headset, Skype starts flashing on my taskbar. I can't have everyone jumping through the hoops like I have to get it to work, or to watch their base unit flip icons, then quickly flip it back 4 or 5 times during a call. This is important to us to get resolved, as we haven't rolled the softphone out to everyone yet, and I would prefer not to roll it out with these issues. And so far, it hasn't tried to bounce me off my softphone calls. We temporarily gave her a Sennheiser USB wired headset to use, and that one seems to play nice with everything.īased on this post, I've turned off the exclusive control settings, now it works with the phone icon white, and Skype doesn't show me as on a call when I listen to music.

I didn't have a physical phone plugged into the headset base. Then in a bit, it would switch it back to the phone icon.

If I pressed the PC button, and start listening to music, Skype would pop up and show me as on a call. I disabled everything I could find in Skype, still would take control. But Skype would take control, and switch it to the phone icon and I would lose sound. It would be set to green for the softphone calls and listening to music or webinars. On the headset base, there is a phone icon and a PC icon. Updated the firmware, it was ok for a day or two. I set her base with my headset, updated the firmware, all seemed to be good, for about a week, then same issues she was having. I swapped out my base for hers, set her up, it seemed to be working fine. We found that exiting Skype solved the problem, but we use Skype for IM communications between departments, so that wasn't practical. I went through the setups I did for mine, seemed to work for a day or two, then back to the strange behavior. Press the base buttons, and would get it back. They would be using the softphone talking to someone, Skype would take over, and they couldn't hear them. It worked fine for awhile, but another person was having all sorts of issues with their headset, Skype, and softphone. I didn't have to push any buttons on the headset base, the softphone app worked, I could listen to music, and participate in online meetings, not just Skype but the usual others.

It took a lot of trial and error, but I finally got everything to work together. Jabra 9540 headset, S-Net Communications softphone, and Skype for Business. Hope this adds some color to things without making it too complicated! Not sure what to suggest if you need to continue using the headset fob controls. That might be ok if you were ok with answering using the controls on the computer and not the fob. I still had audio and mic, but the fob controls were effectively disabled. ZZafis has a good point - I have been researching something similar, and also came across a suggestion to disable the USB Input Device in Device manager that relates to the headset. I don’t recall the exact steps we took, but It was a combination of turning exclusive locking off, as well ad fiddling with Skype. You want recording devises (to start), Select your device, properties, advanced. Right click on the speaker (audio controls) bottom right of the screen.
